Worth pulling?

S-tier, strongest DoT specialist. Below 5% HP execute mechanic is endgame meta. Pull if you love DoT / Scorch comps.

Baicang is NTE’s strongest Damage-over-Time specialist, an Incantation/Synthesis Main DPS built around deliberate self-damage and an execute mechanic that detonates at below 5% HP. His kit rewards players who can manage HP as a resource rather than simply a health bar — teams that learn his self-damage window achieve some of the highest sustained DPS output at launch.

How to Play

Baicang’s damage model has two distinct phases: sustained DoT (Scorch stacks applied by Incantation hits) and execute (below 5% HP triggers a burst that scales with the number of DoT stacks already on the enemy). Maximizing his output requires keeping both phases active simultaneously.

Self-damage mechanic: Baicang intentionally sacrifices HP through specific skill activations. This is not a design flaw — the CRIT DMG bonus from Camellia Society activates on HP loss, meaning every self-damage event boosts your crit output in the same window. The trick is controlling how fast HP drops. With Adler’s shields and Sakiri’s healing, you can safely sit in the 10–30% HP range where the self-damage bonus is active without hitting the execute threshold prematurely.

Camellia Society is the correct choice because it activates on the exact trigger Baicang generates naturally. Each self-damage tick becomes both an HP management event and a CRIT DMG amplifier.

Awakening order:

  1. In Honor of Moonlight — core awakening that extends DoT duration and/or amplifies stack count
  2. White Aspect — improves the self-damage scaling interaction
  3. Curses Spoken Into Being — additional DoT application mechanic
  4. Soul Caller — final polish to the execute window

Stat priority: HP% is the first priority because Baicang’s self-damage mechanics scale with max HP — higher HP means each tick is a larger absolute loss, which in turn amplifies Camellia Society’s CRIT DMG bonus per event. After HP reaches 18,000+, stack CRIT Rate (55%+) then CRIT DMG.

Module set — Twin-Becoming Crimson Butterflies Cartridge: This set provides Incantation DMG% up plus an ATK buff that stacks per Incantation hit on enemies. Since Baicang is constantly applying Incantation DoT, the ATK stack accumulates quickly and delivers a sustained damage bonus that flat-ATK sets cannot match.

Best Teams

Scorch DoT (Baicang’s primary home): Baicang / Sakiri / Jiuyuan / Adler. This is the strongest sustained damage composition for Baicang at launch.

  • Sakiri (see Sakiri build) provides the post-Ult ATK buff that amplifies Baicang’s base ATK, which compounds onto every DoT tick already on the enemy.
  • Jiuyuan adds Anima-side reactions that interact with Scorch — specifically, Anima ticks on a Scorch target can extend or intensify the debuff depending on enemy type.
  • Adler (see Adler build) shields Baicang to prevent him dying during the self-damage phase, and his Incantation DoT application complements Baicang’s Scorch stacks.

Rotation order: Sakiri Ult → Adler shield → Baicang full rotation → Jiuyuan swap in during Baicang recovery.

The execute threshold (below 5% HP) is the endgame mechanic this team is designed to enable safely. Adler’s shield absorption at A4 (absorbs 50% overflow) is particularly valuable here — it lets Baicang approach low HP without insta-dying to enemy counter-attacks. See the full Scorch DoT team breakdown for timing details.

Worth Pulling?

Baicang is the best DoT specialist in NTE at launch. If your preferred playstyle is Scorch or sustained debuff compositions rather than burst DPS, he is the correct Main DPS pull. His execute mechanic is uniquely powerful in boss stages where enemies linger below 20% HP before dying — Baicang converts that phase into a damage multiplier.

He is not universally required — players who prefer Blossom Rush or Discord teams can skip him in favor of Nanally or Esper Zero. But for anyone committing to the Scorch DoT archetype, Baicang has no comparable replacement at launch.

Check the tier list for how Baicang ranks across all content types, and visit Sakiri’s build page to see the buffer that makes his DoT windows most efficient.
